Macys Holiday Windows
Marshall Fields was an iconic Chicago department store traces its origins to 1852. The first store, which remained the company’s flagship store, was located on State Street. It housed the famous Narcissus Fountain Tea Room. The tradition of the holiday window displays at the Marshall Field's State Street flagship store evolved in stages, beginning with toy features in 1897 and transitioning into the famous storytelling windows in 1944. There would be long lines in the chilly winter air of onlookers amazed by the extravagant displays. Macy’s purchased Marshall Fields in 2006 and kept the tradition going,
Left to Right. The entrance to the Chicago Tribune Tower on Michigan Avenue. Also on Michigan Avenue is the iconic Chicago Gothic Revival Water Tower, built in 1869. It was designed to regulated water pressure from the adjacent pumping station. It is world-famous for being one of the only municipal structures to survive the devastating Great Chicago Fire of 1871. The last photo is one of a Christmas tree in Millennium Park on Michigan Avenue that stands over 30 feet tall.
