Johns Island is located in Charleston County, South Carolina. It is home to the historic Angel Oak, an iconic 400 to 500-year-old Southern live oak. It stands 65 feet tall with a canopy covering 17,000 square feet. Its circumference is 25 feet.
The Angel Oak was very likely a young sapling when the Pilgrims arrived in 1620.
Or the Angel Oak was a young sapling when Jamestown was settled 1607.
Perhaps the Angel Oak was a young sapling when St. Augustine was settled by the Spanish in 1565.
This picture was taken a stones throw from the Lake Michigan shore at a spot along the Kalamazoo River in Saugatuck, Michigan, a vibrant arts colony and popular resort town on the "Art Coast of Michigan", renowned for its sweeping sand dunes, freshwater beaches, and eclectic downtown. The pristine beaches of Lake Michigan are only minutes away. This picture speaks for itself. Gorgeous autumn day. A wooden river patio with steps down to the water. Clouds suspended in the sky like balloons. Boats moored on the Kalamazoo River at some private residences. Just looking at this picture makes me feel the crisp autumn air.
If I titled my pictures this would be either “Purple Haze” or “Magenta Moon.” I really like the hue around the full moon as it rises over the ocean. It barely illuminates the clouds and ocean. For ages and ages of time the moon and the sea have relentlessly worked together to produce, without fail, every 24 hours, two high tides and two low tides in all the costal areas around the world. Another instance of the magic of nature - its power and its beauty. This photo was taken on the beach at Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina.
