As it flows through the heart of old historic Paris, the Seine River is flanked on both banks by water front cobblestone quays and concrete sidewalks above. As you sail out of town on a boat, the Seine offers much more scenic, panoramic views.
Bike and Barge tours are a great way to see the countryside and small towns. Breakfast on board, disembark with your packed lunch, ride to a spot for a lovely picnic and then bike to the day’s destination — where the boat will meet you. You’ll have a few hours to explore a quaint old, historic town, and then enjoy some wine and dinner. Next day: “Rinse & Repeat.” Often there will be stops along the bike route of special locations that require a few hours of exploring - like a country château, ancient ruins or a vineyard.
